The 3.6 litre unit continued with the Bosch K-Jetronic CIS fuel injection system as used on the 3.3 litre engine although it was further optimised for use on the 3.6 litre cars. However, it did not make use of the dual spark plugs introduced for the normally aspirated 3.6 litre unit, retaining the single distributor as used on the 3.3 Turbo engines. The dual spark plug innovation was introduced on the normally aspirated engines to facilitate efficient fuel burn with the very high compression ratio. The turbocharged engines had no need for such a high compression ratio since the fuel charge was already under compression from the turbocharger allowing the added complexity of the dual spark plug and distributor system to be avoided.

The 1994 Turbo S engine made use of more aggressivecamshafts and a larger turbocharger as well as a more efficient 4-pipe exhaust to further enhance power output although flexibility suffered a little.
